Junior Girls Golf

Our 35th Annual Stark County Women's Amateur Golf Association Team Tournament was held on Wednesday, July 19, at Arrowhead Golf Club. Fifty-nine golfers played in the tournament. The weather couldn't have been more perfect to celebrate our 35th Annual Team Tournament. We enjoyed blue skies, sun and a temperature of 84 degrees.

Denise Callahan won medalist honors with 77. Not only did Denise defend her title, but she helped her team to win low gross honors.

Brookside's Alison Cress and Congress Lake's Gail Hackett tied for second place low gross honors with 78. Congress Lake teammates Julie Strancar and Sharon Davis shared low net honors. Julie won first place low net with 59. Sharon won second place low net with 66.

Arrowhead defended its team low gross title with 595, using the best seven scores, to win the title. Team members are Jean Burnquist, Denise Callahan, Deb Fitz, Ann Godwin, Danica James, Barb Lovaglio, Janet Shaheen, Theresa Stotler, Jan Todd, Rita Welling, and Debbie Yaich.

Congress Lake won team low net honors with 480, again using the best seven scores. Team members are Carol Bonavita, Pam Burkhardt, Sharon Davis, Cheri Gilbert, Gail Hackett, Sue Lyons, Julie Strancar, Shirley Vaughn, and Julie Wichert.

Scholarship Winner

Hoover High graduate Hannah Higgins is the recipient of SCWAGA's Betty Kerby Peppard Scholarship, awarding $500. Hannah will attend and play golf for Lewis University.

Hannah plans to major in Forensic Criminal Investigation.

We extend our best wishes to Hannah in the pursuit of her degree and continued success golfing for the Lewis Flyers.
